This is the sticker I designed for the UFGI for its annual DNA Day event.
One of the events that the UF Genetics Institute participated in each year is known as DNA Day. DNA Day is a nationwide event where faculty and students in masters and PhD programs visit high schools in participating counties to teach interactive workshops about the study of DNA. Several of the Genetics and Genomics PhD students volunteered as Ambassadors to travel to the local schools and teach students about DNA through practical activities. The UFGI created graphics for the event each year, despite it being moved online due to the pandemic.
This was my first sketch for the sticker design, and a few digital iterations where I tried to recreate my idea in Illustrator. I wanted to make a double helix in a continuous loop, and I ended up using the resulting design in a lot of my work at the UFGI.
I made several color variations of the design to show my coworkers. They were very pleased with the design, and if the event hadn't been moved online due to the pandemic, we would have chosen two versions to print.
