This is one of the fused glass pieces I made while visiting ArtNETT Studios in college.
This was one of the first fused glass pieces I made in my grandmother's studio. After several practice rounds using scrap pieces of glass to test the temperature of the kiln and the effect it has on glass, I decided to be more purposeful with my designs.
Having just taken one of my first graphic design courses, I decided to base this fused glass piece on an illustration I made in class. I liked the composition and was interested in the idea of using clear glass as negative space in a piece. It was also my first time working with stringers - extremely thin strands of glass, like uncooked angel hair pasta noodles.
