Fountain from Poseidon

This is one of many ceramic pieces I completed in my high school pottery class.

In my second-level ceramics class, we were tasked with more challenging projects, such as making an art piece that doubled as a functioning water feature. We were allowed to make a fountain or anything else we liked, as long as the electric pump inside it could freely move water.

I decided to create my version of a mythical fountain from the Percy Jackson book series, since I was an avid reader in high school. In the second book of the series, the Greek God Poseidon gives his son Perseus a fountain that he can use to relay messages to other people with the help of the Goddess Iris. I used an interesting glaze on the sides of the fountain to get coral-like colorations, and I included several drachma coins, the currency of ancient Greece.
