This is a painting I made for my black and white painting course.
We were tasked with creating a still life based on the Momento Mori Vanitas paintings, which were meant to remind the viewer of their mortality and the shortness and frailty of human life.
I chose to feature a few items from my childhood, to symbolize my growing into an adult. It was one of the few times I painted a still life using acrylic paint, which is fast-drying.
